I just read that SB 109 passed 34-1 in the Colorado State senate. Here's the full text of the bill as passed:

It still has to make it through the House Judiciary Committee, but it looks to be good as done- No mention in the bill of when it goes into effect, either.
Summary:
Basically it requires patients to see the doc twice, once before the recommendation and once for the recommendation itself. Since none of the Dr's that will actually write the damn recommendations will take insurance (and I have never heard of a primary care physician writing one) this is going to be damn expensive. The doc is *required* to do a full physical, and the state board of health can use the registry of patients to go after Doctors that write too many recommendations. If you get popped for any kind of drug charge, you have to immediately renew with a state-appointed doc. If you are under 21, you have to have 2 Drs sign off on your recommendation. Dr can't do examinations on dispensaries property, offer discounts, have any financial stake in the dispensary. Etc etc etc. Read the bill and be afraid.
So it just got a LOT harder to get a card in Colorado. And more expensive. Probably going to shut down some dispensaries due to the lack of new patients, too. Since you have to go through the full process every year, lots of patients are going to stop fooling with it and go back to toxic narcotics.
If you happen to live in Colorado- Take note of the one senator that voted against this abortion of a bill, and vote the rest of the sons of bitches out of office next election. If it becomes political suicide to vote for shit like this, it won't happen again.
