Nice, it appears that the venting is just around the sockets not the light itself. Does this reduce bulb heat (I would not think so as most air cooled reflectors venting is inline with the bulb) however with this Parabolic reflector there is pretty much no good way to cool the bulbs other than the implementation of fans directed towards them.
Is this gonna be your set up? You should have a good grow area if it is.
It is quite suprising how well the top draw ventilation works on a parabolic. after a ten hr dual bulb burn I was Shocked! to find the ceramic mogul for the 1k HPS was only warm to the touch and the bottom of the CMH bulb was still cool enough to hold my hand against the bottom of the bulb. Lamp J/B is rm temp, ballast shelf is barely warm and ballasts are cool enough to hold ones hand on so far I am running an 18hr veg with 3hrs lead in and out on CMH alone and 12hr combined in the middle. after ten days the plants will be ready to clone and turn back to a 2hr lead in and out with CMH and an 8hr noon burn of both bulbs.
Here are some pics of the up and running system
